We are partnered with a leading international fit-out contractor known for its expertise in delivering high-quality construction and fit-out projects. With a strong presence in central London, they have established themselves as a reputable and innovative player in the industry. They value teamwork, collaboration, and excellence in design and construction.

 

This company are on the search for a highly skilled and motivated Design Manager to join their central London team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design process, ensuring its successful implementation, and contributing to the overall success of fit-out projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design team, working closely with internal stakeholders such as project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors, to develop comprehensive design solutions for fit-out projects in Central London.

  • Oversee the entire design process, from initial concept development to final implementation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment to achieve design excellence and meet project deadlines.

  • Review project specifications, construction drawings, and architectural plans, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with client expectations.

  • Conduct regular site visits and collaborate with the project team to assess design-related challenges, resolve issues, and implement necessary design modifications.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to fit-out design, and proactively integrate innovative design solutions into projects.

  • Coordinate with external consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain design information, material samples, and technical data required for successful project execution.

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source and select appropriate materials, finishes, and furniture that meet design specifications, quality standards, and project budgets.

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting design-related risks, opportunities, and recommendations for improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sustainability requirements, and environmental standards throughout the design process.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or a similar role within the fit-out construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of construction and fit-out processes, building regulations, and industry standards.

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a design team.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail, with a keen eye for aesthetics, functionality, and quality in design.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.

  • A portfolio showcasing previous fit-out projects and design achievements is highly desirable.
